my Green Witch Travel Altar!
Before it fell off this broken tree stump and forced me to re organize it D:
Story about bad kids and likely bad parents.
So as many of you know I work front desk at a very nice hotel. Not 5 star but still up there and the largest hotel in my state. We have a large open lobby with enterances to our restaurants at the end of it, glass elevators to the north near our VIP private dining room, our bell desk and our business center. Our front desk is directly across from the elevators and next us is our “Snack Shack” which us essential food and drink items guests can purchase for convenience.
It was around 6pm at night and 3 boys ages 8 to 12 came in, looking like brothers. I and 3 other agents are on shift. We are each checking in guests but keeping our eyes on the boys since they pretty much ran into our snack shack.
I hear my coworker shout “you have to pay for those!” I look up to see all 3 running with arns full of things. Our bell captain blocked our entrance. He calmly told the boys to put it back. Mind you these boys arent in poor quality old clothes, they are in very nice name brand items. They drop the stuff on the floor. Our manager told them not to return again.
It is now 10pm and all three return, much too late for kids their ages to be wandering a city in my opinion. We are all watching them. My coworker tells them they have to leave, because of the theft attempt. They throw a fit to say the least cursing at him and stormed out.
3 minutes later a guest runs inside to tell us the children were ripping up our flower area throwing them at cars and guests. I sent my manager and security out. This is now property damage and trespassing and possibly assault if someone gets hurt.
We ended having to have police pick them up.
Like, what parent lets their young children behave and wander at night like this??
Living on the coast or near the ocean is not an option for many people. Whether it be budgetary reasons, minors living with family, spoonie witches who need to live with caregivers, or being stuck in a landlocked state or country. Though because you have distance between you and the ocean, doesn’t mean you cannot connect to it still. Though your craft will likely not be as powerful at times as one who is practicing straight on the beach, never think that you cannot use the energies of the great oceans in your craft just because you are stuck somewhere else. With this masterpost I hope to help my fellow landlocked witches know how to connect and use sea magick.
Stop the Gatekeeping
First I would like to address a problem I have seen several times in this community (especially here on witchblr) about sea witchcraft. I have seen far too many people telling others they cannot use anything ocean related in their craft unless they are near or on the beach, and that if you wish to practice sea magick you “should just move to the coast”. This is an issue I already brought up in my little intro: for many that is just not possible.
Firstly, in several places living even near the coast costs extreme amounts of money, much more than certain people can afford. Secondly, it may not be medically feasible. If the spoonie witch’s caregivers or care circle cannot move or if moving is something that could upset their illness further, they should certainly not move just to please you “real sea witches”. Some countries are also simply landlocked, they’d have to move completely out of their homeland to reach the coast and for some that is not even an option. So before you go onto this post saying it is inaccurate because sea witches only live by the sea, please do not and think for a moment that not everyone has the same circumstances as you. We all have different lives, needs and situations going on and not everyone can live the same way. Let others practice their craft in a way that suits them.
Getting Started/Creating your Space
As in my previous Stuck In the City post, we are going to start with a space or altar set up that will allow you to help feel connected to the ocean. Depending on the space you have available there can be some fun ways for you to connect to it. First find a corner or a table or even a spare part of a room that you can use for your set up, the more room the better in my personal opinion but I understand that space can be very limited.
Clean and cleanse the space you wish to use, make sure this is done well enough for the space to be comfortable to work in. Next it is time to create space for yourself, create an area that you can either sit or even lay down in, whatever you find to be the most comfortable when meditating or rejuvenating yourself after a long day.
Once it has been clean and cleared find a nice flat space and surface to place your altar, preferable somewhere that is fire safe in case of wanting to use incense or candles. I usually in cases of meditation or long term practice try to make it somewhere comfortable with furniture or an area where I can sit or even recline during my practice. I personally enjoy some extra pillows or cushions in the corner though this is entirely up to you.
Some things to consider adding to your ocean altar: beach sand, shells of any kind (clam, oyster, cone, crushed, broken etc), crab shells, dried sand dollars, dried starfish, driftwood, ocean stones/pebbles, shell dust, sea glass, sea salt, dried kelp (powder), ropes, buckets/cups/bowls/containers, fish bones, fish oil, bottles, shark teeth, cork and sea water.

Thank you, I wouldn’t say I look amazing or anything but I certainly don’t feel I was wearing anything against dress code. I just have been in a down mood all day due to headaches and this just was not helping. I got pretty emotional in the back when telling the manager.
Thank you, I sometimes go really big like bright purple, deep plum, scarlet and pitch black, but I’m only allowed to wear certain shades at work due to uniform code. And nude and shimmer lipsticks are allowed (along with pinks, reds, and certain other mild tones). I love lipstick, I wear it all the time. its one of the few types of make up Im not allergic to (even skin sensitive and all natural make up makes me break out in hives and blisters), so I always get I guess emotional when people say lipstick is slutty or whorish. Like, bro all I can wear is eyeshadow, some mascara and lipstick, let me enjoy it.
Oh boy one of my coworkers (not front desk or manager luckily) decided tonight was a good night to tell me my brand new lipstick makes me look like a whore. thanks. I really needed that.
For the record its not even bright. It is a nude brown color with moderate shimmer. I was wearing red lipstick yesterday. but none the less, still an asshole thing to say. And literally out of no where. I was just at the desk saying I had a headache and he decided to chime that in.
Yes I did tell my manager. HR is not in on night shifts
I do enjoy it, its Elf and I love the brand, I just bought 3 new liquids and 3 new sticks in a range of colors. Im wearing the nude-brown lip today. but like, so uncalled for

my favorite Millennial Thing™ is when a group of us are standing around and talking and someone asks a question that no one knows the answer to and suddenly it’s a race to get out your phone and google it and be the first to know, and then someone starts reading the Wikipedia article about the thing aloud to everyone else, and what started as a casual conversation is now A Learning Opportunity and we all walk away a little more knowledgeable about a random topic
Like, Boomers hate when we do that, but I think it’s one of the best things about us.
So long as we have internet or a cell signal, all of the world’s collective knowledge is at our fingertips, and damned if we aren’t going to use it.
My dad always get mad when I do this. He’s always like “We didn’t need to know.” That makes no sense to me. Why would that make me ignore my ability to learn something? I don’t always *need* to know but that doesn’t mean I’m going to pass up an opportunity to learn something new.
Why carry a supercomputer around in your pocket if you’re not gonna use it?
STOP PROMOTING CURSES. Magic should never be used to harm others. Period point blank. I don’t know why I have to say that in the first place. Bringing that much negative energy into your craft and into your life will only hurt you.
I’m gonna be kind to you bc you’re clearly new.
You have no right to police how people handle their business.
Magic has always been used to defend the defenseless.
Not every witch is Wiccan
Morality is relative with this. One person’s blessing is another’s curse.
No one has a right to dictate how a witch practices
Saw this come around again and will always reblog 🙂
I’ll cast curses as much as I damn well please
The way YOU practice magic is not the way EVERYONE ELSE practices Magic. quit trying to police people’s craft
People may cast curses and hexes, you don’t know why they are doing it or their purpose but its none of your business either. Baneful magick is more than just being wicked old witches. it is used offensively to protect, to get justice, to teach lessons and to sometimes just bind and remove people who have harmed you.
Cursing is okay. Hexes are okay. Offensive spells are okay.
Stop policing people on things that are not your business.

Literally a single vote won this for us
If that person had stayed home or not registered because they thought their vote didn’t matter, this would have been a loss
If you are of voting age, register
If you are already registered, keep checking to make sure you are still registered right up until the deadline because we’ve already seen the Republicans pulling some dirty tricks bullshit to de-register people…do not let them get away with that, if you have been de-registered, register to vote again and AGAIN if you have to
Voting is literally one of the most important things you can do to make things better right now

also it’s extremely rare for opossums to carry rabies, wild opossums are actually pretty gentle animals unless you try to hurt them/corner them/or harm their babies (please don’t bother them), and they are beneficial to the environment. 💕
There are shockingly a lot of different witches out there. Many of them you can find on here! So I compiled a list of witches and what they do. Please remember there are many different witches and I could have forgotten some things. Let’s start with the basics!
The Basics:
What Makes a Witch a Witch?
A witch is anyone who practices magic. You can be male, female, trans, non-binary whatever. It doesn’t make you less of a witch(some may say otherwise don’t listen to them).
Do I have to follow a Religion to be a Witch?
Absolutely not but it doesn’t mean you can’t have one. There are some common religions that witches to follow such as Wicca and Paganism, but you do not inherently have to have a religion to be a witch. You do not have to give up your current religion to be a witch(another common misconception).
Do I have to be only one kind of witch?
Nope! You can have a main focus(mine is herbs and divination) but you can also delve into many other paths(on the side i enjoy astrology, spell jars, sigils, etc).
How do I choose?
Honestly, just think of all the things you enjoy and most likely you can turn that into a type of magic fitted just for you.
Are there any rules?
No not really. I prefer telling people this: if you don’t want someone doing it to you don’t do it to someone else. Spells do have pros and cons. Please be aware of that.
Now, lets go into a quick list of witches. I say quick but this may end up long.
Types of Witches:
Art Witch
A witch who incorporates art and crafts into their magic. This includes art work, art supplies etc.
Cosmic Witch
A Witch who’s magic revolves around cosmic events, the galaxy, etc
A witch who works with swamps, swamp life etc and incorporates their magic into it
Techno Witch
A witch who heavily relies on technology(ie emoji spells and more)
Traditional Witch
A witch who does things like the ancestor witches following the same codes and rituals
Urban Witch
A witch who lives in the city and incorporates city life into their magic.
There are still many more, but these are the ones I see the most often! Please remember to do your research and look into each one if it interests you!
since my gay ass loves space, i decided to take this buzzfeed quiz that determines which planet matches your personality. tag your results and zodiac sign. i’m a gemini and i got venus!
