Harley & Ivy

This is why I love them!

Harley is an abuse survivor of course she’d wreck this dude!!!

Can I just say how much I love the implications here?

Harley and Ivy are known public figures. People know who they are, and recognize them. And this kid knows that, despite being violent criminals, they’re safe enough to go to for protection.

Ivy is dead certain that the Batfamily will be okay with them intervening to protect a kid. That has some intersting implications – either she knows damn well where the lines lie and that this is overriding enough to get her a pass, or (more likely, given the first bit) this has come up before.

one of my favorite tropes is villains acting heroically not because the other villain is a threat to them or because it benefits them, but because they have standards

I don’t want to be that person but this bat is displaying signs of either disease or early stages of rabies which is acting ‘calm’ when it comes to bats before the full rabid behavior come in. So I’m a bit worried the little guy is not in a healthy state and probably not safe to be touching like that…

Know what I want more of in my fiction? “Nice Guy” villains. “Incel” villains. Villains who exhibit the most toxic aspects of current masculinity and culture and are shamed for it.

Like Tighten from Megamind.

I know it’s years old but this movie is still the best, especially because of the characterization of their villain. He receives a dozen soft no’s from Roxanne (the Lois Lane archetype), it’s suggested he’s been getting them for years, and he still pursues her even to the point of endangering her life. When he finally understands that her “no” is final, he throws a superpowered shit fit and tries to kill her and her actual love interest (Megamind) and televises it in a ploy to get sympathy (”a reminder of the night she ferociously ripped out my heart”). He has no concept of boundaries or consent, and it is shown for the vile behavior that it is.

And the thing is? I can’t remember another villain like him? Not anywhere. You could make an argument that Snape is a Nice Guy, but the narrative doesn’t criticize the behavior. To the contrary, his eternal love obsession with Lily is praised. Every character who comes even close to Tighten, ends up praised by the end. And I’m sick of it.

Get on Megamind’s level, screenwriters.

I don’t like thieves, plagiarism, or liars(which all of that is what @little-secret-witchling is soooo im calling them out). Sorry for the spam my dear followers but that is all the stuff i knew ws stolen content. I’ve read that book cover to cover. Scott Cunningham’s book of shadows was published by his publisher’s after his death. He was one of the first few people to get a set of books published about Wiccan craft.

Alex is stealing from someone of their own practice without any remorse. And to say the least he’s dead, but they do not care and post it anyways. Given that it is a published book and not just someone’s post on tumblr, they should be called out for their shit.

Also let me add: Alex has said they would give credit when they find the source. Being told the sources to each of the posts I reposted she just blocked me, none of her content edited to add in the sources.

They do not see it as stealing because they change one or two words but keep the rest, but because its not word for word its not stealing. Changing four words does not make a difference. It’s still theft. @little-secret-witchling

:)) defending plagiarism makes you just as bad as the people who do it 🙂 🙂 also I will be as salty as I want. I’d be pissed if someone stole my hard fucking work from me that I put time and effort into. So let me be pissed for Scott Cunningham WHO CAN’T GET PISSED BECAUSE HE’S DEAD. Fucks sake ~MC

Thoughts on white people with dreads?

henny-de-gallo:

daggers-drawn:

We don’t get dreads, we get mats.

Dreadlocks are a kind of lock pattern for hair that is very curly. A lock pattern is where the hair twists around and “locks” together.

Black people pretty much exclusively have the tightness of curl needed for a dreadlock pattern, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other lock pattern hairstyles (such as a peyot, the sidelocks worn by various Jewish groups).

So like “Goldilocks” was named after how her hair took a “lock pattern”, but those locks would be comparatively loose.

This is hair with a looser curl in a lock pattern

Hair with a tighter curl in a lock pattern (Dreadlocks)

Straight hair that has been matted

What’s the difference between the last two?

► Dreadlocks are twisted together neatly, mats are tangled in knots.

► Dreadlocks are healthy hair that can be washed, mats are damaged and often non washable without risking mold.

► Dreads take effort and skill to apply, mats are the product of active destruction and neglect of hair.

► Dreads can be removed. Mats require cutting and shaving.

Now from a cultural standpoint, it’s also shit. Dreadlocks are a symbol on many different levels of Black culture, unity, and resistance to white assimilation. To take them is an act of furthering white assimilation and an act of casual racism.

Especially given that tropes about white hippies with “dreadlocks” have affected how people react to black people with dreadlocks.

So from a practical standpoint we can’t and from an ethical standpoint we shouldn’t.

for all the whites that ignored everything in this post

“…from a practical standpoint you can’t and from an ethical standpoint you shouldn’t.”

FROM A PRACTICAL STANDPOINT YOU CAN’T AND FROM AND ETHICAL STANDPOINT YOU SHOULDN’T!!!
