I used to work at the National Gallery in London. Old men came up to me fairly regularly to complain about the young girls (and sometimes the tourists of a particular ethnicity or nationality) taking selfies with the art. callout posts get hundreds if not thousands of notes (albeit at least
half of them confused or rejecting the accusations), while posts trying
to draw attention to individuals that might pose actual danger go ignored.
There’s
something demonstrably harmful to minors and adults alike, especially
to victims/survivors – it’s how much of a rhetorical nightmare shipping
discourse is, and how much it actually desensitizes people to the
subjects in question. You do not want people to become callous and
dismissive, but the individuals continuously fabricating accusations,
watering down definitions, making completely outrageous claims, and
concentrating their opportunistic activism on ‘problematic content’ do everything possible to erode the patience, understanding, sympathy and empathy of the people around them.
Please, please stop trying to sell your ship wars as literally anything else. You’re doing more damage than any piece of fiction possibly could. This is how you are affecting reality, and the effect your actions have is unquestionably bad.
You have to start taking these subjects seriously again. You absolutely
have to. When you’re not using certain terms correctly, you’re not
respecting their meaning, and you don’t take what they stand for

13-17-year-olds (aka minors) only make up 15% of this site’s user base. Meanwhile, the site has always allowed adult content.
This means that staff is trusting you to browse appropriately, and to
take responsibility for your browsing using the tools they have given to
you (like blocking, and filtering search results). They are allowing
you to be here under the assumption that you are mature enough to handle
it. Your behavior is only showing staff that they might want to raise
the minimum age limit (which is 17+ for mobile users, by the way).

I honestly don’t feel like they are trying to make a joke out of those themes. It seems more like other games made by them (like Hard Rain) where they are trying to take a serious subject and put into a modern or in this case futuristic scenario. From what I have seen from the game so far, it is indeed about repression and devaluing others, but you are meant to empathize with the androids and side with them.
I do agree that its not the deepest game ever and that I’m sure they very well could have added better commentary on the idea of racism and dehumanization but I also think it should be remembered that with so many narratives and branching paths, they may have just lost time.

I personally think its something that is a theme that needs to be addressed now and in our future.
As for my personal views, I think if we did have androids that a good portion of people would segregate them and treat them terribly. I fully believe that people would use them and abuse them. So I feel that a game depicting this isn’t so far fetched.
In short: do I support racism and nazis? Fuck no, like assuming that is stupid. Do I think this game is some divine representation? No, I don’t. I find it to be a fun game that does try to bring up controversial things and yes it has some flaws and it didn’t do it the best it could, but I still find it entertaining to play with interesting characters. This game isn’t trying to make jokes about those things, honestly if you want jokes about those things to complain about there are several, several other games that are far more insulting. But, honestly this game I don’t think is some demon of a game, is it the deepest game? No it really its and it can be a bit corny at times, but honestly I like it. Simple.
Edit: and if you wish to unfollow me, I’m not stopping you. I don’t agree with you but I’m also not going to force anyone to follow me or agree with me. it’s a video game I bought after a long day that I enjoy and it has a controversial story, but i’m not going to apologize for it.
I’m poor but i had a bit of spare money after bills and enough for groceries still so I got a game after my 11 hour shift yesterday (ugh). I’m waiting for it to download and install. Anyone play it? No spoilers please, but have you liked it so far?
Update: I really like this game lol. I won’t spoil anything but Markus’s story took a weird turn imo but thats the only thing I have had any issues with so far. Bonus: I suck at keeping Connor alive, I guess I just play him too nice
Is tumblr completely freaking out for anyone else? Icons won’t load, images only sometimes load, if i expand the notes its nothing but chaos and text overlapping etc.
